# Origin
My name is Amy Nordhues, and I am a therapist abuse survivor. In 2014, I was groomed and assaulted by a predatory psychiatrist — an experience that led me to speak out and co-create the documentary series #TherapyToo, exposing the hidden dangers within therapy.

# Catalyst
My experience with abuse reaches back into childhood, long before I was harmed again as an adult by a mental-health professional and church elder. That history, combined with my studies in psychology, sociology, and criminology, eventually led me to write my award-winning memoir, Prayed Upon: Breaking Free from Therapist Abuse.
Following its release, I stepped into broader advocacy work for adults harmed in therapeutic and faith-based settings. I’ve spoken on numerous radio and podcast platforms and presented at conferences including the Oklahoma Counseling Association Conference, the Crimes Committed Against Women Conference, and the Survivors Network for Those Abused by Priests Conference.
My devotional writing appears in The Secret Place, and I continue to share reflections and resources on my blog at www.amynordhues.com.
